The Florida Panthers, as expected, relieved Tom Rowe as general manager and interim coach, the franchise announced on Monday.

Tom Rowe was relieved of his duties as Florida Panthers general manager and interim head coach.

Team president Dale Tallon, who served as Panthers general manager from 2010 through 2016, will again take over as GM as part of the reshuffle. The team said in a news release that Tallon’s search for a new head coach would begin “immediately.”

"We have the talent to get back on track in a hurry," said Tallon, who retains his title as team president, in a news release. "This was a difficult year for us, but I think we learned some tough lessons about what it takes to win consistently in the NHL. With a few tweaks to our roster and the right leadership, I'm confident we can get back to contending for the Stanley Cup next season."

It was reported last week that Rowe’s stint as the team’s interim coach would conclude at season’s end. Rowe ceded his GM duties to take over the Panthers coaching duties when Gerard Gallant was fired in November.

Rowe will remain with the Panthers as a special advisor to Tallon.

The Panther won the Atlantic Division last season, but finished 35-36-11 and well out of playoff contention this season.
