The Seattle Seahawks have signed a quarterback and, no, it is not Colin Kaepernick.

The Seahawks instead announced on Monday a deal with Austin Davis, who spent the 2016 season with the Denver Broncos, to compete for the backup QB spot on the team.

Davis also spent time with the Cleveland Browns and then-St. Louis Rams since entering the league in 2012.

Davis has appeared in 13 games in his five years in the league -- 10 in 2014 for the Rams and 3 in 2015 for the Browns.

Last Friday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll had talked about his meeting with Kaepernick. The Seahawks are the only known team to have Kaepernick, a free agent, in for a visit this off-season.

“Colin’s been a fantastic football player and he’s going to continue to be," Carroll told reporters Friday. "At this time, we didn’t do anything with it. But we know where he is and who he is and we had a chance to understand him much more so. He’s a starter in this league, and I can’t imagine – we have a starter, but he’s a starter in this league and I can’t imagine that somebody won’t give him a chance to play.

The Seahawks also currently have QBs backups Treyvon Boykins and Jake Heaps on the roster.
