Former NBA player Doug Overton pleads guilty in indecent exposure case

Doug Overton pleaded guilty to three counts of disorderly conduct.

Former NBA player Doug Overton pleaded guilty to three counts of disorderly conduct on Wednesday for allegedly exposing himself on a trail in suburban Philadelphia at the end of April, multiple media outlets reported. His sentence will be one year of probation.

Overton, the basketball coach of Division II Lincoln University and a former player for the Philadelphia 76ers, said at the time that his indecent exposure arrest was the unintended consequence of urinating alongside the trail.

"During the walk, I felt the need to relieve myself. With the nearest bathroom nearly a mile away, I stepped off the trail and into a wooded area to take care of business in what I thought was a discreet manner,” Overton said in a statement to Philly.com in May.

Messages left Wednesday morning by USA TODAY Sports to the Lincoln University athletic department were not immediately answered. Messages left with Overton’s attorney, Brett A. Datto, also were not immediately returned.

Overton, 47, played 11 seasons in the NBA, including three with the Philadelphia 76ers.
