LeBron fires back at Draymond Green: 'My name is in your head'

The LeBron James vs. Draymond Green trash talk battle continues.

A day after the Golden State Warriors NBA championship parade, in which Green trolled James with a funny T-shirt and called him out for saying he didn’t play on a super team, James appeared as a guest on the Road Trippin’ podcast hosted by teammates Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye to address the friendly feud.

“You started the super team, bro,” Green had said at the Warriors’ parade.

In response to that, James doubled down on his stance that he never played for a super team despite leaving Cleveland in 2010 to join Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat.

“I don’t look at it as … I definitely didn’t start the super team, if that’s what he’s trying to say,” James said on the podcast. “But I just feel like it’s great that on the day you’re celebrating your championship, my likeness and my name is in your head. I love that.

“I mean in 2003, the Lakers combined Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Shaq and Kobe,” James said. “And in ’96, when Jordan was retired, the Rockets joined Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler all on the same team.”

Jefferson noted that the Lakers, Rockets and Warriors all had championship-caliber teams before adding superstars, whereas when James went to Miami the scenario was much different.

"People forget, when you went to Miami, they had just lost in the first round. And you added Chris Bosh," Jefferson said. "I just remember when people talk about super teams and this and that and putting people together, it would have been like if you had joined the Boston Celtics after you had lost to them. To put it in comparison, the Golden State Warriors have been the best team the last three years. They broke NBA records for the last three years, and they added probably the second-best talent in the NBA."

James and Green also jabbed at each other Thursday on Instagram, with James posting a picture of Green wearing his mocking “Quickie” shirt — that referenced the Warriors 4-1 Finals win over the Cavs — by writing, “that’s what she said.” Green posted a picture of James working out and poked fun of his hairline, suggesting the Finals loss made him go bald.

Jefferson and Frye called the spat between James and Green, who are friends, “gentlemen banter.”

"Yeah, that was funny; that was real funny," Green told USA TODAY Sports' Sam Amick of James’ response. "It's all in good fun. At the end of the day, it was a great series. We were able to prevail. They won last year. Just for him to have that response shows his character, to obviously not be down by the fact (that they lost). Light jokes. I think that was pretty cool."
