Lonzo Ball apparently hasn’t totally ruled out private workouts with NBA teams.

Representatives for the former UCLA point guard and the Philadelphia 76ers have discussed a workout ahead of the NBA draft, a person with knowledge of the talks who is not authorized to speak publicly told USA TODAY Sports on Thursday.

There’s been no final determination as to whether Ball will indeed work out for the Sixers, which hold the third overall pick in the June 22 draft.

ESPN was the first to report the potential workout.

Ball turned down a workout offer floated by the Boston Celtics, team president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said on Thursday.

“It’s not ideal,” Ainge said. “Listen, we’ve drafted guys that wouldn’t come in for workouts before. It’s not the end of the world. We’ve watched them play a ton. We have a lot of information on them. Sometimes players don’t want to come in, not because they don’t like you, they see our roster. They think they would prefer to go to another team.”

LaVar Ball, Lonzo’s father, had stated previously that his son would not work out with any NBA team outside the Los Angeles Lakers. The Celtics pick No. 1 overall, followed by the Lakers.

“There’s nobody else that we need to work out for,” LaVar Ball said last week.
