GAME DAY HIGHLIGHTS

4:22 p.m.:  The Mets win 8-7. Tebow was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a hit by pitch.

4:03 p.m.: Tebow strikes out looking on three pitches, during fourth at bat of the game.

3:57 p.m.: Tebow to lead off the bottom of the 8th inning. He's 0-2.

3:26 p.m.: Tebow just got doubled up on a line drive.

3:24 p.m.: Tebow was up for his third at bat when he got hit in the right shoulder by a pitch. Bases are loaded with Tebow at first base.

3:11 p.m.: Jay Bruce hits a home run. Score is Mets 5, Red Sox 4 in the 6th inning.

2:45 p.m.: It's a hit. Tebow brings in a runner but gets tagged out at first base. Double play. Game now tied 4-4.

2:41 p.m.: Tebow is back at the plate with the bases loaded.

2:40 p.m.: Tebow is back on deck in the bottom of the fourth.

2:05 p.m.: Tebow strikes out looking in his first time at bat.

2:02 p.m.: Bottom of the third arrives. Tebow will head to the plate.

2 p.m.: Noah Syndergaard pulled in top of third with one out. He gave up three hits. It's Mets 1, Red Sox 0.

1:53 p.m.: Tebow will be the first batter up in the bottom of the third.

1:52 p.m.: Third out for the Mets.

1:51 p.m.: Tebow on deck, but there's already two outs in the inning.

1:46 p.m.: Mets are up to bat again in the bottom of the second.

1:20 p.m.: Tim Tebow bats eighth, against  Red Sox starter Rick Porcello.

1:07 p.m.: The game will start soon, but skies are cloudy at First Data Field in St. Lucie West.

It’s Tebow time.

Tim Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback turned minor league baseball player will make his Grapefruit League debut in the New York Mets game against the Boston Red Sox at 1:10 p.m. at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie.

Tebow will serve as the designated hitter for the Mets. American League Cy Young Award Rick Porcello will start for the Red Sox.

Tebow, a left-handed slugger, batted .194/.296/.242 with 20 strikeouts in 70 plate appearances in the Arizona Fall League.

“I don’t think he’s going to make our team but it’s great for the organization and great for the fans,” Mets manager Terry Collins said. “He’s a pretty famous guy and it will be fun to get him out there.”
