MLB sets playoff schedule: Wild card games Oct. 3-4, World Series begins Oct. 24

USA TODAY Sports
The postseason will begin on Oct. 3.

Major League Baseball's 2017 playoffs will begin on Oct. 3 with the American League wild card game, followed the next day with the National League wild card battle.

The World Series is scheduled to begin Oct. 24. If necessary, Game 7 is scheduled Nov. 1, falling into an unusual month for the sixth time.

With the All-Star Game no longer determining who has home field advantage, the Series will start at the home of the pennant winner with the better regular season record.

The AL Division Series begin Oct. 5; the NL Division Series begin Oct. 6.

The AL Championship Series is scheduled to begin on Oct. 13; the NL Championship Series on Oct. 14.

Should two pennant winners finish with identical regular-season records, the standard tiebreaking rules will apply. First is head-to-head winning percentage during the regular season, then higher winning percentage in intradivision games.
