The high point of the season so far came on Oct. 8 for the West Allis girls swimming and diving team at Milwaukee Riverside.
The Wave won the 2016 Cancer Awareness Meet behind strong performances from a number of girls, including two first places.
Winning were Katelyn Kurtz in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200 freestyle relay team of Olivia White, Julia Kusik, Kurtz and Moon Aliota.
Finishing second were Kurtz in the 200 individual medley; Kusik in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke; and the 200 medley relay unit of Hailey Turner, Kurtz, Kusik and White.
Coming in third were White in the 50 and 100 freestyles and Abby Scardino in the 100 breaststroke.
West Allis also competed in a Greater Metro Conference dual meet against Divine Savior Holy Angels on Oct. 5 and snared three of the top four spots in diving.
Alivia DuFay won the meet with 202 points, Courtney Niemczyk finished third with 168 points and Eleanor Brown was fourth with 158 points.
