A 5-4 victory over Brookfield East on June 7 was the highlight of last week for the West Allis Hale baseball team.

Evan Gaynor worked five solid innings and picked up two hits to lead the Huskies, who rallied from a 4-0 deficit after three innings.

In other games last week, Hale lost to Oak Creek, 8-1, on June 10; to Sussex Hamilton, 8-3, on June 9; and to Wauwatosa East, 9-3, on June 6.

Sam Valona and Isaiah Mundt each collected two hits, including a double, against Oak Creek, but the Knights took control early with a four-run second inning and coasted from there.

Sam Sansone had two of his team's three hits in the Hamilton game. The Huskies held a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the sixth, when the Chargers erupted for seven runs.

Mundt went 2-for-3 with a double and run batted in against Tosa East, but again Hale was hurt by the big inning. The Red Raiders tallied six in the fourth frame to pull away from a 2-2 tie.

Hale slipped to 2-5 in the GMC and 3-9 overall coming into this week.

The Huskies take on Menomonee Falls at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Trenary Field in Falls and then play rival West Allis Central at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Belich Field. The Huskies downed the Bulldogs, 10-2, in their first meeting this season.

Hale plays in a Wood Bat Tournament starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at South Milwaukee. Greenfield and Brookfield East are also slated to be in the field.

The Huskies visit Brookfield Central at 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 20, and host Wauwatosa East at 5:30 Tuesday, June 21, at Belich Field.
