After a tough season, the West Allis Central softball team finally found a few bright spots last week.

Central shut out Milwaukee Hamilton, 9-0, on May 19 and St. Thomas More, 13-0, on May 16 for its second and third victories of the season.

Karley Vega went 4-for-4 and Teddy Peed had two hits in the victory over Hamilton, and pitcher Kelsie Kraus allowed two hits and struck out 12. Central tallied two runs in the third, then blew open the game with three in the fifth and four in the sixth.

In the victory over More, Kraus gave up two hits, struck out eight and walked one. She also had two hits for the Bulldogs, who were up 8-0 after three innings.

Central only committed one error over those two games.

The Bulldogs did not fare as well in Greater Metro Conference play, falling to West Allis Hale, 20-5, on May 17 and to Menomonee Falls, 18-0, on May 20.

Vega and Kaci Eisch each had two hits against Hale and Mary Martens drove in a run.

The Bulldogs met Kettle Moraine in a WIAA Division 1 regional game on May 25.
