Behind second places by diver Alyssa Doherty and swimmer Nicole Beckman, Whitnall claimed a strong sixth place in the prestigious Small School Invitational on Oct. 15 at Shorewood.
The Falcons tallied 156 points to trail Edgewood with 387 points, McFarland 292, Whitefish Bay 209, Grafton 187 and New Berlin Eisenhower 181. Whitnall beat other Woodland Conference foes such as Brown Deer/University School, New Berlin West and Shorewood.
Doherty came in second in the diving with 449.6 points, trailing Ginger Lingard of Edgewood with 464.9 points.
She had a busy weekend, also competing in the South Side Sprints on Oct. 14 and winning that competition with 432.95 points, eight ahead of Ashley Thein of Cudahy with 424.65 points.
Doherty was the lone Whitnall entry in that meet, and her 20 points gave the Falcons ninth place.
Beckman was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly in the Small School meet with 59.66 seconds, behind only Katie Hayes of Brown Deer/USM with 59.58.
Beckman was also third in the 200 individual medley (2 minutes, 18 seconds), and fourth places went to Brooke Miles in the 100 backstroke (1:01.75) and the 200 medley relay team of Miles, Kelly McElvain, Beckman and Katelyn Bloomer (1:55.96).
McElvain was fifth in the 200 IM (2:18.51), and the 400 freestyle unit of Beckman, Bloomer, Miles and McElvain came in sixth (3:53.35).
Miles placed 11th in the 200 freestyle (2:05.46), and 12th places were taken by McElvain in the 500 freestyle (5:43.4) and the 200 freestyle relay of Jennifer Bloomer, Tegan Klass, Rebecca Bloomer and Izzy Cole (1:56).
The Falcons will next compete in the Neenah Invitational at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.
