John Quinlan, who has directed the Whitnall wrestling program to 18 conference championships, is the new head football coach at the school.

Quinlan has plenty of experience in football, having coached for 15 seasons at Whitnall and Marquette University High School. He has served as an offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, special teams coach, positions coach, head sophomore coach and, most recently, head freshman coach with the Falcons.

He has made a huge mark on wrestling at the school, coaching for 32 seasons. During that time, his teams have won 18 conference crowns, seven WIAA regional titles and one sectional championship.

Quinlan has coached 95 individual conference champions, 10 state placewinners and two state champions in wrestling.

He also coached softball for seven years with the Falcons.

'John has been a dedicated Whitnall coach for 32 years,' athletics and activities director Scott Bruening said in a news release. 'His experience, dedication and success make him a great fit for the program and school.'

Quinlan takes over for Jared McGranahan, who guided the Falcons to their first WIAA playoff victory in 17 years last fall before taking the head spot at Kenosha Tremper several weeks ago.
