A flurry of 3-pointers and a second-half barrage helped the CSU women's basketball team take down New Mexico 78-63 Saturday afternoon at The Pit.

The Rams trailed 32-24 after sputtering to just six points in the second quarter.

Then Colorado State started its assault from 3-point land. The Rams (12-5, 4-1 Mountain West) hit 18 shots from behind the arc, led by four each from Stine Austgulen, Sofie Tryggedsson and Myanne Hamm.

Hamm, a Poudre High School graduate, scored a team-high 16 points. Austgulen filled up the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Ellen Nystrom had nine points, eight rebounds and six assists.

While the offense took off, CSU also shut down New Mexico (8-8, 4-2 MW) in the second half. The Lobos shot 29 percent after halftime and just 23 percent from 3-point territory.

CSU was outrebounded 52-34, lost the second-chance points battle 20-0 and was outscored 26-12 in the paint.

But the 3-pointer erased it all. CSU was 42 percent from long range and scored 54 points in the final 20 minutes to grab the road win.
