West Allis Hale junior Marshall Rushton closed his season at the WIAA Division 1 state cross-country meet in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, Oct. 29, running 17 minutes, 42.33 seconds, good for 144th place out of 189 runners.

Finn Gessner of Madison LaFollette repeated as state champ in 15:22.13.

"Marshall ran in a competitive race with the best in the state," coach Micah Hernandez said. "He took risks and gained valuable experience that will help when he aims to return next year. We are proud of him."

Homestead's Drew Bosley took second in 15:38.78, followed by Brian Jacques of Oconomowoc (15:41.60), Sam Pinkowski of LaCrosse Central (15:42) and Middleton's Gus Newcomb (15:44).
