The West Allis Hale boys volleyball team dropped a three-set battle with Brookfield East in the opening round of the WIAA boys volleyball postseason, 25-16, 25-14, 25-18. The Huskies came into the battle Oct. 28 as the No. 6 seed, with East as the No. 3.

"We played a tough first set," coach Bryant Ellis said. "It was a close game until Brookfield East went on a small run to finish the game. Game two was not so competitive ... in set No. 3, we started off by giving East a big lead. The Huskies came back hard, but it was a little too late, and we dropped the third.

"The record this season does not reflect the improvement of this young team. We are looking forward to putting in some solid work this offseason and be ready to compete in a bigger and more competitive conference next season."

Hale will stay in the Greater Metro Conference next season, with Wauwatosa West and Germantown also joining the league following conference realignment. West Allis Central will move to the Woodland. Tosa West (Woodland) and Germantown (North Shore) were both conference champs in boys volleyball this season.
