Mom kills her 3 kids before killing herself, police say

AUSTELL, Ga. — A woman likely killed her three children before killing herself in a suburban Atlanta apartment, police said Tuesday.

Kisha S. Holmes, 35, of Austell was found dead Tuesday morning along with her 9-month-old daughter, 4-year-old son and 10-year-old son, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce of the Cobb County Police Department. The children's names have not been released.

"I have three daughters myself, so I could never imagine harming my children or how it could get that bad," neighbor Roland Milton said. "I just pray for the family."

Milton said he has lived in the neighborhood all his life and calls it a strong, close-knit community. Austell is about 15 miles northwest of Atlanta.

The management company at the apartment complex passed out letters to residents, explaining that a family had passed away in one of the apartments.

A maintenance worker who entered Holmes' apartment discovered the bodies, Pierce said. The Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office will do autopsies to determine the causes of death and investigation is ongoing to determine the motive.
