WEST ALLIS - The Ebenezer Child Care Center in Wauwatosa will move a mile south to the Wauwatosa/West Allis border to accommodate more families.
The new 6,500-square-foot facility will be located at 1136 S. 108th St., and is slated to open this fall. It will be able to accommodate 88 children, compared to the current location that is licensed for 51.
Ebenezer Child Care Centers is a not-for-profit, locally-based agency that provides early care and learning programs from four child care centers. Besides the Wauwatosa center inside the United Health Office Building in Research Park, Ebenezer also has locations in downtown Milwaukee, on Milwaukee’s south side and in Oak Creek.
A spokesman said Ebenezer is different from most other child care providers because it offers a home-like atmosphere and a curriculum that is virtues-based.
The new building will feature two infant classrooms, two toddler classrooms, a classroom for 2-year-olds, another for children 2 and a half to 3, and another that will be a kindergarten for 3- and 4-year-olds.
The building will have a secure entrance, large playground, full kitchen, and staff resource area.
Marthan Stewart, the center coordinator for Ebenezer’s Wauwatosa location, and her staff will move to the new location.
