WEST ALLIS — A West Allis-West Milwaukee school crossing guard who was hit by a car and rolled onto its hood March 21 was back on duty at his corner for dismissal at Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate School that afternoon.

Although several emergency vehicles came to the scene, the guard was evaluated and released.

The accident happened about 7:25 a.m. at 94th Street and Cleveland Avenue where the man has served as a crossing guard for Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate School students for 17 years.

The driver received a ticket, police said. The accident happened after the driver stopped and waited for a student to the left to cross the street. When she didn't, the driver pulled out, not noticing the crossing guard had stepped into the street from the opposite direction, police said.
