West Allis - A second public involvement meeting on a planned bicycle/pedestrian bridge is scheduled 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at City Hall, 7525 W. Greenfield Ave.

The bridge over Highway 100, parallel to the Union Pacific railroad overpass, is scheduled to be built in 2018.

The bridge would link a bicycle trail west of Highway 100 with a trail extending about a half-mile east under the Zoo Freeway to the intersection of South 99th and West Burnham streets, where it would connect to bicycle lanes.

The eastern trail extension won't be paved until 2019, due to ongoing Freeway reconstruction. The estimated cost of the bridge is $1.2 million, with 80 percent federal funding.
