WEST ALLIS — A Day of Light will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 25, at West Allis Central High School, 8516 W. Lincoln Ave., in memory of the two West Allis brothers who were shot and killed in an attempted robbery recently.
A funeral was held Feb. 21 for CJ and Tra Edwards. CJ recently graduated from West Allis Central High School and Tra was a senior there.
The theme of the community event is “Let us come together in the wake of tragedy.” A candlelight vigil will be held and there will be words of hope from Mayor Dan Devine, Alderman Tom Lajsic, Alderwoman Cathleen Probst, coach RayCarlon Hubbard and others. West Allis students and alumni will provide music. West Allis citizens organized the Day of Light.
Donations for the Edwards family will be accepted.
The West Allis-West Milwaukee PTA Council Scholarship Committee also will accept donations to provide a scholarship to a 2017 grad attending a post-high school program for a community-minded career.
A 14-year-old West Allis boy faces two homicide charges and a 13-year-old was taken into custody in connection with the attempted robbery, but not the shootings. The incident happened at the brothers’ home Feb. 12.
