West Allis - The Wisconsin State Fair presents awards in many categories from cakes to Clydesdales has itself won 23 first, second and third place titles at the annual International Association of Fairs and Expositions convention.
This is the third time the fair was up against the biggest and best fairs in the world, all in division 5, for fairs with annual attendance of more than one million.
The state fair took first place in six categories - agriculture program area beautification, sponsorship innovation, unique advertising specialties/merchandise/souvenirs, promotional event in competitive exhibit display method and/or prop, and competitive exhibit display photo.
It also took two second places - one for unique partnership for an exhibit/promotion/special event/competition and one for first-time sponsorship.
Besides winning two firsts in the marketing and communications category, its efforts received six other awards for overall social media campaign, for web advertisements and for printed promotional material. The convention's Hall of Honor showcased the fair's collateral materials, digital marketing and promotional advertising for the 2016 state fair.
In the competitive exhibits awards competition, the state fair placed in 11 categories including the two first places. The approaches the fair used will become part of the association of fairs library to be used as a model or inspiration for other fairs.
“The IAFE awards programs are extremely competitive, and division 5 includes the biggest and best fairs, expositions and rodeos from across the globe,” Kathleen O’Leary, CEO of Wisconsin State Fair Park, said in a press release. “We are honored to not only compete against these great events, but to consistently place across all categories."
The 2017 Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular, will be Thursday, Aug. 3, through Sunday, Aug. 13. The fair has 30 free entertainment stages, rides and games, many animals, family activities, events, contests, vendors and food.
