GREENFIELD - A police officer is credited with saving the lives of two men who had apparently overdosed on drugs.

Officer Brock Beal administered the drug Narcan when he discovered the men, ages 22 and 23, barely breathing and unresponsive inside a pickup truck. Paramedics arrived and continued lifesaving measures, transporting the men to a local hospital.

Beal is now preparing a case against them for heroin possession, according to a news release from Greenfield police. The 22-year-old is from West Allis and the 23-year-old is from Caledonia.

The incident happened about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at an apartment complex at 7100 W. Forest Home Ave., Greenfield. At first, the officer thought the truck, that had a strobe light on the cab, was a maintenance vehicle at the complex to help with flooding problems. A torrential rain was coming down, police said.

Beal returned to check on the truck 45 minutes later and found the men.
