West Allis got 10.7 inches of snow in the storm that started Sunday night and continued through Monday night, but some places on the city’s west side got 11.5 inches, according to the department of public works.

Greenfield officials estimate the city was hit with 10.5 inches.

With heavy snow in the forecast, West Allis applied a brine to the streets on Friday night. The technique, new to the city, keeps snow from filtering into pores in the concrete, reducing the amount of ice that forms on the streets as plow blades pass over.
