Voting in the Tuesday, Nov. 8, election will feature tight races, mainly on the national level.
Most voters in both West Allis and Greenfield will choose between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton. However, five other candidates also are running for president. They are Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party, Libertarian Gary Johnson, Jill Stein of the Wisconsin Green Party, Monica Moorehead of the Workers World Party and Rocky Roque De La Fuente of the American Delta Party.
The race for the senate features Republican incumbent Ron Johnson locked in a contest with former Senator Russ Feingold, a Democrat. Libertarian candidate Phillip Anderson also seeks the post.
All of West Allis and Greenfield are in Congressional District 5 where incumbent F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr., Republican, is running against Khary Penebacker, a Democrat, and John Arndt, a Libertarian.
The race for State Assembly District 7 that covers much of West Allis and a small part of Greenfield features Republican Zachary Marshall against Democrat Daniel Riemer and Libertarian Matthew Bughman.
Candidates in other area state legislative elections are running unopposed.
In West Allis, Republicans Rob Hutton and Joe Sanfelippo are unopposed in State Assembly districts 13 and 15, respectively.
In Greenfield, Republican Dave Craig is unopposed in State Senate District 28, and Republican Ken Skowronski and Democrat Mike Kuglitsch are unopposed in State Assembly districts 82 and 84, respectively.
Other Milwaukee County candidates also are running unopposed.
The last chance for in-person absentee voting in both Greenfield and West Allis will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 3 and 4, in the city halls. In West Allis, the city hall is at 7525 W. Greenfield Ave. The Greenfield City Hall is at 7325 W. Forest Home Ave.
The polls in both communities will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day, Nov. 8.
