Burglary

A Samsung 7 cell phone, two LG cell phones, and security box containing four old cell phones were reported stolen from a residence in the 4500 block of West Crawford Avenue at 12:45 p.m. May 2. The home was entered through a broken patio door.

A man wearing dark pants and a black hooded sweatshirt damaged a window and screen while trying to break into a residence in the 3500 block of South Rivershire Drive at about 4:30 p.m. May 4. The man was driving a black Toyota Scion with painted art on the driver’s side front fender and several stickers on the rear window.

A gun was stolen from a residence in the 3900 block of South Sunset Square between 4 p.m. May 6 and 9 a.m. May 7. The residence may have been entered through a slightly open balcony door.

Theft

Prescription medications, clothing and a debit card were reported stolen from a patron at Golden Key Motel, 3600 S. 108th St., at 9:45 a.m. May 1.

A GPS unit, a radar detector and eight bottles of cologne were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 6600 block of West Barnard Avenue at 3:30 p.m. May 2.

Two men in a black Chevy Trailblazer with a folded rear license plate stole four rims that were sitting alongside a garage in the 3800 block of South 102nd Street at about 4:20 p.m. May 2.

A Singer sewing machine was reported stolen from JoAnn Fabrics, 4950 S. 74th St., at 10:45 a.m. May 3. The theft occurred the evening of May 2.

Jewelry was reported stolen from a residence in the 4800 block of South 81st Street at 6:35 p.m. May 3. The resident told police her son had a party at her home while she was on vacation, and she discovered the jewelry was missing when she returned.

Tires were reported stolen off a 2015 GMC Yukon in the 3900 block of South 84th Street at 6:10 a.m. May 4.

A wallet containing credit and debit cards, $20 and a driver’s license was reported stolen out of an employee’s purse at Aurora Health Center, 4848 S. 76th St., at 7:10 p.m. May 4. The purse was in an employee break room when the theft occurred.

A delivered package containing medication was reported stolen off a porch in the 4300 block of South 72nd Street at 10:05 a.m. May 5.

A man was taken into custody in the lot at Meijer, 5800 W. Layton Ave., after he was caught driving a vehicle that was stolen during a carjacking in Milwaukee at 7:30 a.m. May 6. He was booked for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent and taken to jail. The passenger, a juvenile, was also taken into custody and is facing the same charge.

A 2006 gray Pontiac Grand Prix was reported stolen at Hideaway Inn, 5105 S. 27th St., at 9:50 a.m. May 6.

Assault

A woman was taken into custody for domestic violence/battery for allegedly punching her husband in the jaw during an argument in the 5900 block of South 34th Street at 7:15 p.m. May 2.

Two men allegedly hit a man on the head with a hard object while he was walking home in the 4000 block of West Howard Avenue at about 5 p.m. May 3. The man told police one pf the males was wearing an orange hoodie with white writing, and both appeared to be juveniles.

OWI

A man was taken into custody for OWI on South 84th Street and West Layton Avenue for driving east in the westbound lanes of Layton Avenue at about 10:15 p.m. May 6. A preliminary breath test indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.20. He was booked, cited and taken to jail for a probation/parole violation.

A woman was taken into custody for third offense OWI for driving all over the roadway and in the bicycle lane in the 4500 block of South 27th Street at 4:15 a.m. May 7.

Other

Police received a report that a Canadian goose seemed “dazed” after possibly being struck by a car just west of the Meijer gas station, 5900 W. Layton Ave., at 6:15 a.m. May 2. An officer found the goose and escorted it back to the pond behind Meijer.

A man was taken into custody for brandishing a large knife at a man and his dog in the 4000 block of South 27th Street at about 3:40 p.m. May 2. The man, who was apparently hiding in some bushes on the south side of Arlington Cemetery, jumped out of the bushes wielding the knife after being startled by the dog. He was cited for disorderly conduct and released.

A man who was yelling at employees and throwing items inside Walmart, 10600 W. Layton Ave., was taken into custody by police as he was trying to drive out of the parking lot at 3 a.m. May 3. The man told police he was having a mental health crises and didn’t like how the Walmart employees were talking to him. He was cited for disorderly conduct and was taken to the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex after making several references to “suicide by cop.”

Police responded to the area of South 27th and West Ramsey Avenue after Milwaukee police received a report that a large, 150-pound tan cat was seen walking east on Ramsey at about 2:40 a.m. May 6. The alleged lion turned out to be a coyote that was found on 23rd and Ramsey by Milwaukee police.

A female shoplifted five Xbox controllers at Meijer, 5800 W. Layton Ave., and was last seen running across Layton and into the parking lot at Greenfield High School at 3:30 p.m. May 7. Police found the woman by the soccer fields, where she was taken into custody for shoplifting.
