A male armed with a rifle or shotgun robbed George Webb's, 4845 W. Forest Home Ave., at about 6 a.m. Jan. 3. The suspect, described as a skinny Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s and wearing a black cloth or mask over his face, stole $270 from the register and fled in a small gray or silver vehicle. The robbery is still under investigation.

A man armed with a shotgun robbed Griddler’s Café, 4160 W. Loomis Road, at about 4:25 a.m. Jan. 5. The man, who stole cell phones, waitress tips, cash out of one person’s wallet and $90 out of the cash register, was described as thin Hispanic male in his early 20s with a black face mask over the lower half of his face. The investigation is ongoing.

A white male wearing a ski mask, black jacket and jeans robbed Speedway, 4265 S. 60th St., at about 4:45 a.m. Jan. 11. The male ran away from the business with a cash drawer. No weapons were displayed or implied.

Two men shoplifted alcohol at Pick 'n Save, 4279 S. 27th St., and then pointed a handgun at an employee who tried to detain them at about 6:25 p.m. Jan. 11. The men, described as two black males in their 20s, were taken into custody after the driver was identified through his vehicle registration.


Jewelry and prescription medications were stolen out of a locked residence in the 4000 block of West Howard Avenue between Dec. 31 and 5 p.m. Jan. 2. A door to the home was kicked in.

Two men stole 56 cartons of cigarettes out of the back room at Speedway, 4265 S. 60th St., at about 1:40 a.m. Jan. 6. One of the men was taken into custody in the parking lot, while the other man fled the lot in a white 2009 Toyota Corolla. He was later taken into custody at his residence in the 2400 block of West Hope Avenue in Milwaukee. Both are facing charges of burglary.

Two flat-screen TVs, two Bluetooth headphones and a large amount of costume jewelry was stolen from a locked residence in the 4400 block of West Morgan Avenue between 5:45 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. Jan. 10. The rear sliding door was forced open. A suspect has been identified.

A snow blower was reported stolen from a garage in the 6700 block of West Leroy Avenue at 4:05 p.m. Jan. 12.

A home in the 4500 block of West Tesch Avenue was burglarized while the residents were sleeping between the late evening hours of Jan. 14 and 6:30 a.m. Jan. 15. It is unknown what was stolen or how the home was entered because the police report had not been completed.


An employee’s wallet was stolen at South Pointe Health Care Center, 4500 W. Loomis Road, between 8:30 a.m. and 1:05 p.m. Jan. 2.

A GPS unit was reported stolen out of a vehicle in the 3100 block of West Mangold Avenue at 4:05 p.m. Jan. 3.

A wallet was stolen out of a woman’s purse at Target, 4777 S. 27th St., between 12:30 and 2:15 p.m. Jan. 9.

The catalytic converter was stolen off a 2001 Pontiac van parked at Walmart, 10600 W. Layton Ave., between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Jan. 9.

A compressor, two framing guns and a siding gun were stolen from a locked truck in the 4400 block of South 72nd Street between 8 p.m. Jan. 10 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 11. The lock on the cargo trailer was cut.

A backpack was reported stolen out of a locked Nissan Sentra in the 4600 block of South 76th Street at 7:15 .m. Jan. 11. The window was smashed out.

A woman’s wallet was reported stolen at Panera Bread, 7840 W. Layton Ave., at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 13.


An officer who saw a woman jump out of a moving vehicle in the 4400 block of South 84th Street took her husband into custody at about 3 a.m. Jan. 10. The man allegedly assaulted his wife at their home and inside the vehicle, and was cited for battery and disorderly conduct. He was also cited for violating a red light signal and driving with a suspended license.

An intoxicated man was taken into custody for domestic violence/battery for allegedly hitting his girlfriend in the face in the 4600 block of South 50th Street at 10:45 p.m. Jan. 13.


A man was taken into custody for second offense OWI after an off-duty West Allis police officer reported following an erratic driver that was swerving into oncoming lanes in the 5200 block of South 27th Street at about 8:20 p.m. Jan. 15. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw.


Police went to the 4400 block of West Howard Avenue after multiple callers reported a driver ran away from his vehicle after it jumped the median at about 4:05 a.m. Jan. 8. The man was found inside another vehicle that was pulled over by police, and he was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. He was cited for failure to report an accident, failure to maintain control of a vehicle and underage drinking.

The northbound lanes of Highway 100 at Cold Spring Road were closed down after a vehicle struck an office building in the 3800 block of South 108th Street and caused a gas leak at about 5:25 p.m. Jan. 11. The road remained closed until We Energies evaluated and repaired leak. No injuries were reported.


Police went to Xperience Fitness, 6271 S. 27th St., for a report that a homeless man in his 60s was inside the business and refusing to leave at about 9:15 p.m. Jan. 14. The man was carrying a large clear trash bag containing aluminum cans, throwing cigarette butts on the floor, and was making sexually inappropriate comments to patrons. Police told the man he was not welcome in the business and would be arrested if he returned.
