The fourth annual Charitable Hops fundraising event continues its efforts to raise money for a charity that impacts the local community.

“Charitable Hops is proud to announce this year’s beneficiary is Blessings in a Backpack of Waukesha County with all proceeds supporting students in the Oconomowoc Area School District.

A news release reports that nearly 17 percent of Oconomowoc students qualify for the backpack program due to potential food insecurity.

"The program ensures that all kids have access to food over the weekend by sending home a bag of food on Friday” Lisa Hayes of Charitable Hops said.

Charitable Hops will host its annual home brew contest and public tasting 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Oconomowoc Community Center. The casual evening will include more than 20 home brewed beers for tasting, live music, light-food offerings by Revere's of Delafield and an eclectic silent auction.

There is a $25 suggested donation. Event reservations and donations to the backpack program can be made online at www.charitablehops.com. Online reservations are highly recommended. All of the proceeds will go directly to Blessings in a Backpack, the release says.

Corporate sponsorships are available.

"We were so impressed by the need in our schools that Charitable Hops and Blessings in a Backpack made to the Rotary Club of Oconomowoc

that we said 'yes' to helping,” said Glenn Hanon, president of the Oconomowoc Rotary Club.

Charitable Hops mission is to annually host an event and raise awareness and funds for a local charity.
