It was a 'Pretty Woman' reunion at the 'Mother's Day' premiere

The first time Julia Roberts, Hector Elizondo and Garry Marshall worked together it was for 1990's Pretty Woman. Roberts was the titular "Woman," of course, Elizondo played the benevolent hotelier and Marshall directed. After Runaway Bride and Valentine's Day (and an additional 15 films that just Elizondo and Marshall made together), the trio has reunited for Mother's Day, another Marshall ensemble rom-com.

At the Hollywood premiere of the movie Wednesday night, Elizondo remembered what it was like to first work with Roberts about 25 years ago.

"Well, first of all, I knew she had a great smile when I saw the dailies," said Elizondo, who mentored Roberts on the 'Pretty Woman' shoot. "Now she’s grown in to quite a citizen which impresses me even more," he said.

So how does Marshall keep his veteran actors coming back to work with him? On the red carpet, he said it probably has to do with his open set policy and relatively-low demands.

"I don’t make them work 3 months. I move along quickly. I tell them you’re allowed to bring relatives on the set," he said.

But it sounds as though Roberts didn't need much convincing to reconnect with Marshall and Elizondo.

"Well why wouldn’t I?" she said. "Look at this. It’s so fun."

In Mother's Day, Roberts plays successful HSN personality and author Miranda, while Elizondo is her agent/manager/friend. The two get to share an onscreen moment that recalls one of their most memorable Pretty Woman scenes. (It involves a certain utensil.)
